You sound confused. A college class is usually worth 3 credits because you take the class for 3 hours a week. If you take 5 classes a semester, you are taking 15 credit hours that semester, which means that every week of that semester, you will have to go to class for 15 hours.

In standard universities it is usually 4 credits a course

In the US, at least, the standard is that a course which meets for one hour per week over the full semester is worth one credit hour. This is assuming it's a lecture class; lab courses are generally one credit hour per three hours in the lab per week. So a lecture course that meets for one hour on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays would be worth 3 credits; a lab course meeting for three hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays would be worth 2 credits.

The schedule can vary greatly depending on the number of courses taken, the days and times each course meets, availability of specific required courses, students preference, and more. It's just not that clear cut.

College classes can vary in terms of credits. For colleges and universities that operate on a regular two semester academic year most courses are three credits. However, there are many courses that run four and five credits (usually in the exact sciences and math). Still, there are also some that are one and two credits (typically in health and physical education and co-op).

A credit hour simply means how many hours per week a course meets. Most college classes are 3 or 4 credits, but 1, 2, 5, and more credits are certainly common enough.

Usually any number between 1 and 5.

Do you have to pay for classes at college?

Yes, you do. The cost is per unit and grad programs are more. State university and college is cheaper than private colleges. You also have to pay for textbooks and other supplies you need for classes. The average cost of a year of college today is about 5,000.00, but of course that can be more depending on the university/college you attend.

Can a college still charge you if you don't show up the first day and decide to quit?

Yes. It depends on when you officially withdraw from classes at most universities. If I recall correctly, you would get a refund of 90% if you withdrew on or before the first day of class, dropping by 10% per day until after the fifth day of classes for the semester, at which time you would receive no refund. You need to check with the individual school's registrar for that school's current policy on refunds.
