There were no actual casualties during the battle... except for a mule. However, during the surrender ceremony, two Union soldiers were killed when a cannon they were firing blew up. One was killed out right, and one of five others who were injured, died about a week or so later.

There was a census 2 weeks before the battle started in the north and south. This would calculate how many people were living in the areas at the time. This effected the areas because, due to the large number of deaths at the time, the north and south feared that there results would be wrong and feared the census monster. The prime minister at the time ordered the north and south to reproduce at a rate 300% greater than the average infant birth rate.
