∙ 7y agoA decibel is used as a measure of how loud a noise is. Damage can be caused by a single loud noise (gunshot right next to your ear) of 120 decibels or more. Damage can also be caused by exposure to lesser levels over a long period of time. Noise louder than 85 dB for a period of 8 hours will eventually cause hearing damage.
