It's not the watts, it's a high sound pressure deviation we measure as sound pressure level (SPL). The threshold of pain is known in acoustics as the lowest strength of a stimulus that is perceived by the ear as painful. Because of the different sensitivity of the hearing of people it cannot be given an accurate value. You can find the following rounded values for threshold of pain in various audio articles and books:

140 dB equivalent to SPL 200 Pa

137.5 dBSPL equivalent to 150 Pa

134 dBSPLequivalent to 100 Pa

130 dBSPL equivalent to 63 Pa

120 dBSPL equivalent to 20 Pa

Sound pressure levels more than 140 dB will burst your eardrums.

That depends really on the person. But 150 decibels will do it.

At max, 199. 200 will kill you do to the brain not being able to handle such an intense vibration. Your brain will explode internally and you will die via massive brain bleeding.

How does decibels work?

To calculate the number of decibels that power-level-'A' is greater than power-level-'B',-- Divide 'A' by 'B'-- Take the 'log' of the quotient-- Multiply the 'log' by 10 .If the result is negative, then 'A' is that many decibels lower than 'B'.

How does loud noises make you deaf?

Deafness is more or less caused by damage or a defect in the tympanic membrane (the eardrum), such as the membrane being ruptured by blunt force or a loud noise (130 + decibels) like that of a space shuttle take off.

You want to measure how much louder 95 decibels is than the threshold of sound?

Take a sound pressure level meter and measure it. 95 decibels means over the is 0 decibels is the threshold of hearing. 95 decibels means the measure over 0 decibels.

Can the piercing scream of a small child rupture an adult's eardrum?

No - although it may sometimes feel like your eardrums are on the threshold of rupturing... It requires 178 dB (decibels) minimum to rupture a healthy eardrum (usually more). A baby's cry is around 115 -130 decibels at a distance of ~5" (about 10 cm) from the baby's mouth so it may be painful but it won't rupture your eardrum. Note that a sustained level of about 95 dB can eventually lead to some hearing loss - but most babies can't sustain their crying long enough to cause that kind of damage. On the other hand 125 dB is the threshold where sound starts getting painful - a loud baby can definitely reach that threshold. Permanent hearing loss from a single exposure or maybe just short term exposure take about 140 dB - which no baby is going to generate (dB is a logarithmic scale).

How many decibals does it take to go deaf?

usually around 120 decibels is when your ears start to hurt. But the most highest rate your ears can take before you get permanent, immediate hearing loss is 194 decibels. anything higher for your ears it would probally make your ears bleed as if your ear drum was a balloon full of blood at the right amount of pressure.
