- The Las Vegas Charter School for the Deaf closed after being open for 3 years
- Virginia School for the Deaf, Blind, and Multi-disabled closed in 2008.
- Detroit Day School for the Deaf closed in 2012 after 114 years of service, though parents and students protested.
- Gallaudet School for the Deaf in St. Louis
- Nebraska School for the Deaf closed in 1998.
