There are two main branches of Christianity: Protestant and Catholic. The Protestant branch has many other branches of its own such as Baptists, Nazarenes, Lutherans, and many others. Any Christian who is not Catholic is Protestant. Satanism is also a branch of Christianity due to the fact one must believe in God and The Bible in order to believe in Satan.

There can really only be ONE Christian religion. Anyone can call themselves 'Christian'; but that doesn't mean that they really are.
Matthew 7:22, 23 shows that while they might call themselves Christian; Jesus says that he never knew them: (New Century Version) "Not all those who say 'You are our Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven. . . . On the last day many people will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, we spoke for you, and through you we forced out demons and did many miracles.' 23 Then I will tell them clearly, 'Get away from me, you who do evil. I never knew you.'
Also:
True Christianity is NOT DIVIDED as are all the different ones calling themselves such. The Bible clearly states in 1 Cor 1:10 that Christ's disciples not be split into groups, or divided into branches: (NCV) ". . . . that all of you agree with each other and not be split into groups. I beg that you be completely joined together by having the same kind of thinking and the same purpose."
But if you are going to count any group that calls itself Christian; there are many such churches.
I think there are five:
Catholic
Orthodox
Protestant
Pentecostal
Anglican
For the most part, there are 5 branches: Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Evangelical, and Mormon/other. Within each branch are usually found numerous sects.
There are many different branches/denominations within Christianity. The largest is Catholicism with about 1.2 billion adherents.
When a religion has different branches (e.g., Christianity), they are called "sects".
There are many different branches of Christianity, but the most common in Europe and other Western countries are Christianity, and Catholic. Some other smaller but still large branches include Mormon and Anglican.
The main branches of Christianity are Protestantism and Catholicism.
Different churches tend to belong to different branches, each emphasising a slightly different ethos. The church itself is "The bride of Christ", so all of Christianity is a world-wide church.
three branches
Bishops are officials of many, but not all, branches of Christianity. They therefore usually live in any country where Christianity is observed.
Christianity has the most sects of all the religions, which is in the vicinity of 1000 +/-.
There wasn't a specific "first branch" associated with Christianity. The disciples preached to the Jews about Jesus. Then the disciples went all around the world starting churches. However, there are 3 major branches of Christianity. These branches include:Eastern OrthodoxyProtestantismRoman CatholicismMany people believe there to be only 1 form of Christianity. This may be true, but Christianity has branches!
There are many different branches of science like Biology or Chemistry. Physics and Anatomy are also major branches of science.
Catholic, Protestant, & Orthodox.
