Basically, there are two ions in the compound NaNO3 , the Sodium ion(Na+) and the Nitrate ion(NO31-). So, this compound is called Sodium nitrate.

Polyatomic ions are ions that consist of more than one atom in it. So here, the nitrate ion is the polyatomic ion, while the sodium ion is the monoatomic ion.

There are two ions in this compound. It will dissociate into 1 Na ion and 1 NO3 ion. This is because NO3 is an ion by itself (nitrate). It is NOT 3 O or 3 NO ions.
