No, men and women throw from the same oche.
The Bullseye must be exactly 5 feet 8 inches from the floor and the toe line (where you stand to throw the darts) is 7 feet 9 and 1/4 inches from the board. Also see http://www.indepthinfo.com/darts/setup.shtml
The common US distance from throw line to face of board for soft tip darts is 8 feet. 7'-9.25 inches is for steel tip darts.
The center of the bull should be 5' 8" from the floor. The throw line should be set at 7' 9 1/4" from the face of the board and if you measure a diagonal line from the center of the bull to the throw line it should measure 9' 7 3/8". Allow for at least 2' or free space on either side of the board as your throwing lane from the throw line to the dartboard.
Play Selectioner until you get the dart board background , and then use your darts and throw a dart at the red circle in the very center of the dart board.

I know some people who paid hundreds of dollars for their darts. I think you can get a decent set of 80% tungsten darts for around US$40. If you're just starting to throw and not sure you want to spend so much at this point, you have the option of starting with brass darts. They're quite a bit thicker that tungsten darts, but they're a lot cheaper, too.
The darts of better quality will make it easier to aim at the board, but don't affect the mechanics of throwing them. Aim at the board, then click to mark your aiming point (X). Hold down your mouse button as you pull back (dart moves down), then release it to throw. The proper drawback is about halfway to the lower edge of the board, but it can vary.
5 feet & 8 inches from the floor to the centre of the bullseye. 7Feet 9 and a quarter inches from the face of the board to the throw line or "oche" For Soft tip darts 8 feet from the face of the board to the throw line or "oche"
A shanghai is a single, a double, and a triple of the same number in one throw of three darts.
There are a few that use lighter weights, even 14 grams, and some that use heavier, around 30 grams. However most professional dart players use from 18 to 23 grams. It's best though to throw what you're comfortable with. I myself use 26 gram darts. Heavy darts make the release a bit easier and stick in the board better, but can be less accurate than lighter darts as they are heavier to throw. It's all up to the player and what they throw best with. I recommend beginners use 20 gram darts. Once you find a weight you like, stick with it and don't change or you will have to start all over getting your aim down.
