Here are some examples. It depends on the serving size, how the chicken is cooked and whether the skin is eaten or not.

In plainly cooked chicken (such as roasted, grilled or boiled) there are:

  • 168 calories in 3½, or 100g, of skinless light meat such as breast
  • 200 calories in 3½, or 100g, of dark meat such as leg (excluding bone & skin)
  • 142 in 1 average size skinless breast (half of the two breasts)
  • 107 calories in a skinless chicken thigh, a thigh is half of the leg
  • 181 (excluding the bone and skin) in one average size chicken leg

With the skin left on an eaten there are:

  • 112 calories in 1 average size drumstick including the skin
  • 153 calories in 1 average size thigh including the skin
  • 220 calories in a 4 oz, or 113g, cooked breast including skin
  • 330 calories in a 6 oz, or 170g, cooked breast including skin
  • 265 calories in a 4 oz, or 114g, leg (thigh & drumstick) including the skin.
