Mariah has been married twice. Firstly to Tommy Mottola, former head of Sony. This marriage only lasted four years from 1993 to 1997 and ended surrounded by rumours that Tommy used to physically and mentally control Mariah. In her song from the album E=MC2 "Side effects" Mariah sings of the fear she had for Mottola which led her to flee the marriage. Mariah recently remarried in 2009 to Nick Cannon an American TV presenter. He is ten years her junior but she seems to be very happy and in love. He proposed with a lolly pop shaped as a diamond. The couple recently confirmed they are expecting twins, a girl and a boy , due in April 2011.
