Maximum innings in a test match can be 4 ,2 innings for each side.....Minimum is 1 innings which is only possible if side batting first keeps on batting and does not declares,but this is very very rare to occur.....Usually 4 innings ,2 for each side are easily played and the match usually ends with a usually i.e win or loss of a particular side.

It depends on what form of the game is being played: if you were playing an ODI (one day international) then there would be two innings with both sides batting and bowling once. But say you were in a test match (that goes on for 5 days) then you would play 2 innings each with both sides batting and bowling twice.
There will be two innings of 20 overs each with 2 breaks of 2.5 minutes each during each innings. There will be a 10 min break between innings. Usually it takes 1.5 hours on an average per side to finish their batting and the whole match usually ends in around 3 hours.
Rounders came to the US with the Jamestown Colony in Virginia. The American game of Baseball slowly evolved from that British game. In rounders there were 3 bases and home plate. I think all 9 players batted and there were 3 innings. They changed sides after the 9th player batted. The rules were similar but not the same.
