It depends in the standard of the simming race, for Olympic or World Championships then the pool has to have 10 lanes however only the middle 8 are used.
For lesser competitions it depends on how many lanes the pool has, usually a minimum of 6 however for smaller and older pools which are very rarely used there may be 4 or 5 lanes
it depends on how long it is....but if its 8ft or more that's a lap
Most pools have six or eight lanes. The pools in the Olympics have eight, but smaller ones often have six.
There are 10 lanes in an olympic swimming pool
There are 1,609.344 meters in a mile. When 1 length = 1 lap, you would need to complete 64.3 laps to swim a mile.
Sixteen
It depends on the size of the swimming pools. If the pool is small, you need to swim many laps to get to 1/4 mile. 1/4 mile is 440 yards.
1 mile is equal to 4 laps of a standard 1/4 mile track.
Assuming laps means two lengths (there and back in a lane): 1yd = 0.9144m 20yd = 18.288m 2 lengths = 36.576m 1km = 1000m = 1000m / 36.576m ~= 27.34 laps (just over 54 2/3 lengths)
It depends on how big the laps are.
1 mile/0.8 mile = 1.25 laps.
72 laps make a mile. so calculating the fraction 18 laps would be 1/4 of a mile!!!!
A mile in a 25 yard pool equals 71 lengths or 36 laps (1,760 yards in a mile). A mile in a 25 meter pool equals 66 lengths or 33 laps (1,650 meters in a mile). In a 50 Meter pool, a mile is 1,650 meters, which is 33 lengths or 17 laps of the pool. 2 lengths of a pool equals 1 lap.
32 laps
assuming a 25mx10m pool, each lap = 70m 1 mile = approximately 1609 metres 50 mils = 80,450 metres 80,000 / 70 = 1149 laps
8 laps = 1 mile
