You only need one license plate on your car in the state of Idaho. There is only one place to put a license plate on a car, and one required.
Idaho and New Jersey require a front and rear plate. Doesn’t matter if the car has a place to mount it or not. It has to be displayed on the front of the vehicle regardless.
