I asked my veterinarian once if I could walk my miniature poodle for an hour in reasonable weather, at the time my male dog was five and a half months old and had all his shot including rabies. He said an hour wouldn't hurt him (walking) and could probably do more. We have taken him walking for an hour and he didn't seem very tired at all. We did take water to offer him occasionally. It was about two miles.
