milliliter (ml) is a unit of volume, while the gram is a unit of mass. You can't convert between the two unless you know the density of the substance you're measuring. However, if you're speaking in terms of water or two equal substances, it is generally accepted that one milliliter is equal to one gram

Assuming the material is fresh water at atmospheric pressure and at room temperature, then the density is 1 gram/cc or 1 gram/ml.

Accordingly, 2 milligrams occupies a volume of :

2 (milligram) x 0.001 (gram/milligram) / 1 (gram/ml) = 0.002 ml (milliliters)

This question cannot be answered sensibly. A millilitre is a measure of volume, with dimensions [L3]. A milligram is a measure of mass, with dimensions [M]. Basic dimensional analysis teaches that you cannot convert between measures with different dimensions such as these without additional information.

A simple mental exercise will demonstrate that 2 milligrams of air and 2 mg of water will have very different volumes.

In order to compare mass (2 grams) to volume (milliliters) you would need to know the density of the fluid being measured. If you're talking about pure water, then one gram is defined as being equal to 1 milliliter.

None, since there can be no conversion. A gram is a measure of mass. A millilitre is a measure of volume. The two measure different things and, according to basic principles of dimensional analysis, conversion from one to the other is not valid.
If you are not convinced, consider a millilitre of air. How many grams? Next consider the same volume of lead. How many grams?

This cannot be sensibly answered. A milliliter (mL or ml) is a measure of volume, grams (g), kilograms (kg) and milligrams (mg) are measures of weight or mass.

It depends on what kind of compound you are talking about. Milliliters and grams are not convertible by standard, but we can say that 1ml of water is pretty much equivalent to 1g in weight.
