It doesn't work this way when measuring gold. In the Metric system, 9 Carats= 1.8g, but that doesn't have anything to do with gold. Carats in gold refer to the purity and softness of the gold.

It depends. The highest value of gold is 24 carat. Lower carats have either silver and/or copper mixed in (but you can't tell by looking).

10k is a measure of purity, where 24k is pure gold. If you weigh the ring, multiply the weight by 10, and then divide that number by 24, it will give you the weight of the gold in the ring.
