See the link below for lists by country. That does not give a total, but I added it up: 6742466.

However it says no Baha'is in Croatia but I know a couple (from holidays there). So make that 6,742,468. In fact I know there are hundreds in Croatia.

Those figures are based on the World Christian Encyclopaedia, last revised in 2005. The figure today would be somewhat higher.

Religious statistics are notoriously unreliable, even when produced by an independent body, because there are questions such as: Do you count children, Do you count someone who was bought up a Baha'i and has done nothing much about it since, How do you count the Baha;is in countries where there is no Baha'i administration and the Baha'i Faith is persecuted?

Having said that, an estimate based on the World Christian Encyclopaedia of 7 million Baha'is (counting children) is a good ball-park figure. The encyclopaedia does better than any previous effort at counting the world's religions. There's an assessment of the reliability of their data at the second link given below.

The abstract says "We test the reliability of the WCD [World Christian Database, part of the Encyclopaedia project] by comparing its religious composition estimates to four other data sources (World Values Survey, Pew Global Assessment Project, CIA World Factbook, and the U.S. Department of State), finding that estimates are highly correlated... Religious composition estimates in the World Christian Database are generally plausible and consistent with other data sets."

What is the bahai language?

Bahai is a religion, not a country or geographic area, nor does it represent an ethnic group. As a religion that believes in the unity of humankind, the Bahai beliefs are not restricted to any one language or language group. However, in the interests of engendering international unity, the Bahai Faith advocates the introduction of an international 'world' language. Even so, the religion has not said what language that should be, and, as yet, has not developed such a language for global use. In fact, their view is that such a language should be selected or created by the world's governments."It is incumbent upon all nations to appoint some men of understanding and erudition to convene a gathering and through joint consultation choose one language from among the varied existing languages, or create a new one, to be taught to the children in all the schools of the world." -Bahai quote, according to WikiPedia.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------See Related links below for more information.
