The Steinhardt Social Research Institute in its 2007 study 'Reconsidering the Size and Characteristics of the American Jewish Population' states that:

Our estimate is that the Jewish population is 6 to 6.4 million, but it is also clear that substantially more Americans have Jewish parents and, potentially, may identify as Jews or should be considered part of the Jewish population. Thus, for example, Phillips claims that NJPS identified more than 1 million offspring of intermarried parents who should be included in the Jewish population. Including these individuals would bring our estimate to between 7 and 7.4 million individuals - pg 31 'Overall Population Estimates'
Acording to the latest survey there are about 5,275,000 in the USA. But there are 13,155,000 in the world.
Between 5 and 6 million.
