I highly doubt there is anyone tracking this statistic.
Both options give completely different experiences anyway. I personally believe most people would prefer to see things in theaters so they can achieve the full effect of the film at its highest quality.
However; rentals are generally cheaper and are of course far easier to fit into a busy schedule. So really the choice is likely based more on lifestyle, time constraints and budget more often than on preference
On a personal note: I don't make a choice between the two. I choose to see a certain number of films in theaters each year based purely on whether I have time to fit them into my schedule. And as for viewing movies at home; I prefer to purchase everything I'm interested in rather than renting.
As of April 2013 it is available for dvd/bluray rental, but not digital streaming.
The movie already came out someday in October. It may no longer be in theaters
Almost all movie theaters are open on Christmas Day.
It is still in movie theaters.
It's not playing in theaters anymore
Video rental stores, movie theaters etc.
I prefer to go to a movie theater because it is wide screen and it's dark! When you rent a movie, then it's boring and dull in the room! Also, you can get what I love, and I hope you love them too! Then you have to buy the DVD and you have to buy popcorn and other stuff.

Movie Theaters actually make most of their profit on food and beverages. As long as people are willing to pay these prices, nothing will change.
because it is the jungle no theaters and no electricty and poor
yes movie theaters can search your purse
Wildwood, the woods, the movie theaters
Theaters make schedules based on ticket sales. As long as people are going to see the movie, it will remain in theaters. When ticket sales drop off, the theater will show something else.
Probably movie theaters. Going to a theater allows one person to see a movie once for the price of one ticket. Buying a DVD allows as many people as you can fit in your living room to see a movie as many times as you want. There are other reasons (new releases, screen size, better sound system in most cases) that you might prefer a movie theater, but price probably isn't one of them.
i think it depends on the movie theaters ...you should check with your local movie theaters...
pls. tell me when the new movie Vacation will be in theaters
