No people died actually building the Eiffel tower. One a builder lost his life during the construction period. He was on his day off and wanted to impress his girlfriend, and lost his grip and fell to the ground.
Just one worker died during the construction period, but not while working. He came on a Sunday with his girlfriend, and trying to impress her with a demonstration, lost his balance and fell to the ground.
At different stages of the construction, different numbers of builders were involved; but always between 150 and 300. This does not count the workers in the factories where the 18,000 pieces were made.
