As Cargo Carriers vary enormously in size and capacity, their carrying hold can range from 20,000 tons up to a massive 400,000 tons of dead weight. With wet loading, this figure can be increased to 550,000 tons.

That's a tough question to answer as there are so many different types of jet aircraft (experimental, military, business, commercial passenger, commercial freighter, etc.), and also many different ways to categorize weight. The lightest empty weight (no fuel or payload) for a jet aircraft is the BD-5 at just 358 lbs. Normally, though, an aircraft is classified according to its Maximum Take Off Gross Weight (MTOGW) and the heaviest is the Russian AN-225 with a MTOGW of nearly 1.3 million lbs., followed by the new Airbus A380 at just over 1.2 million lbs. See the Related Links for "Wikipedia aircraft MTOGW" to the left for a comprehensive list of civilian jet airliners and their MTOGWs.

Depends entirely of the plane. A small aircraft, such as the Piper Cub can carry a few hundred pounds. Large cargo aircraft may carry 75 tons or more.
