Yes, the heart is a two part pump. The right side of the heart receives deoxygenated blood from the body and pumps it to the lungs. The left side of the heart receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the body.

In two separate ways.

Firstly, your heart consists of two small atria and two large ventricles

each atrium acts as a primer pump, ensuring the bigger ventricle is pumped full of blood, before the now-full ventricle then pumps blood out to either the lungs (right ventricle, deoxygenated blood from the body) or the rest of the body (left ventricle, oxygenated blood, from the lungs) - so little pump (atrium), big pump (ventricle) - hence double pump

Secondly, the two sides of the heart are separated by a wall (septum) such that oxygenated blood in the left half doesnt mix with the deoxygenated blood in the right

so again, two half hearts or a doublet of double pumps
