in the main camp they were about twenty metres long by about eight metres wide, on two stories and a cellar, they were divided into many rooms.
in Birkenau:
the brick barracks were about the same size, but on one storie, they were of one room, but had three rows of bunks, with a wash room at one end.
the wooden barracks were slightly larger, of one room and two rows of bunks.
Each barrack in Auschwitz was one large room with bunks for the prisoners. There was a bucket for relieving ones self, and in this small area up to 500 prisoners were kept- six people in one wooden bunk. In the Auschwitz I camp there were 32 residential barracks and six barracks for sanitation.

There was a neglected former Austro-Hungarian cavalry barracks at Auschwitz and a few other buildings before the camp was built in 1940. There was also a house inside the perimeter of Auschwitz II (Birkenau) that was converted into a gas chamber.
you had the kitchens on one end aned the barracks in the middle. The showers were on the sides.
before the killings of jews it was a political camp but actually before ww2 auschwitz was a military base with barracks and guard tours, this made an excellent area to build a camp
There were Barracks, crematories, factories, watchtowers, gas chambers, and a host of other buildings in concentration camps such as Auschwitz.
Auschwitz had 280 Buildings. This included 197 Barracks, 2 Mess Halls, 2 Hospitals, 6 garages, 10 Storage facilities ( All purpose from Killing method to Food) and the 30 Blocks (This included famous Block 10 and Block 11). Other buildings were SS Houses, SS Entertainment areas and for other purposes such as Coal for the trains and tools for maintenance needs. Auschwitz Birkenau was only 25% complete and their was plans of having 1000 buildings at Auschwitz, majority of this would of been Barracks and Gas Chambers.
