Depends on the style of bread. I have seen 10 to as many as 24 slices in a loaf.

Sliced bread is sold as thin, medium or thick slices. Then there are large loaves and small loaves! There is even a 50/50 sliced bread sold in the UK, with half the slices medium and the other half thick. Therefore the number of slices in a loaf is variable.
A standard loaf of bread has anywhere from 21 to 25 slices of bread in it. The number of slices depends on the size of the loaf.
The number of slices of bread in a loaf is variable. The answer depends on both the thickness of the slices and the size of the loaf.
When you buy it, none. It's not sliced
About 20...........Half of that is 10......
buku sklices
In an 800g medium-sliced pan loaf, there are usually 19 slices, not counting the end slices (heels). This may vary by up to 2 slices either way, but in my experience the number is usually odd - very inconvenient if you're producing sandwiches on an industrial scale for events!

well it depends on the the size and how thick you want the slices to be

The number of slices in a loaf of bread depends on, for example, whether it's thick or thin sliced or simply by the baker. On average however you can expect to get approximately 10 sandwiches per loaf.
Twenty Two
If you cut the loaf once, you have two slices, and they are pretty big ones. Each is half the loaf. If you cut it 2 times, you have three slices, and if you cut it 3 times you have 4 slices. We generalize and say if you cut the bread n times you have n+1 slices
Well that depends on what you want to pay, in the UK right now (Feb 09) you can get a standard loaf (800gms) for around 60p if you buy the cheapest or you can pay at least £1.35 for a premium quality loaf, a thick sliced loaf can yield just about 15 slices whilst a medium sliced loaf can yield upto 30 slices, so to answer your question. At 60p a loaf, 30 slices = 2p a slice. At £1.35 a loaf, 15 slices = 9p a slice.
There are about 1200 calories in a loaf of white bread.
