Not too many. But in the tourist areas, such as Kathmandu, Thamel, etc, the number of tourists have increased thus leading to an increase also in Nepali natives knowing a bit of english for trade, services, and for business.

The further you go from the tourist cities, the less people will know, if any, english at all. Their official language is Nepali, a differential of Hindi, but many shopkeepers and hotel managers learn basic english in the response of so many Westerners visiting for different purposes... including Everest Expeditions, where Kathmandu would be the main gateway point into the mountain.
