Homework can help the student learn the topic but more important, helps the student learn work ethics. Sometimes we need to just do what we're asked. That's the reality of the workplace and the reality of life. Not everybody gets to do whatever they want.

Homework on the weekend or on a holiday is annoying, but it does not harm you. If you have a set time every day to do homework and study, you will probably not need to do much homework over the weekends. The best way to deal with weekend assignments is to sit down Friday afternoon and get it over with. That way, you will have Saturday and Sunday free, and won't have to worry about it all weekend!

No, students shouldn't have homework on weekends. Studies show that 85% of kids have too much homework on the weekends and the kids are more stressed than others; that didn't.

Clarification:It should be noted that children who routinely complete their homework tend to be better at spelling and other scholastic basics. Homework projects teach more than most students realize, but mostly homework helps people learn to organize their time and teaches organization skills... (some students even need a little help with spelling)

Unfortunately, our culture has slowly reinforced the narcissistic and hedonistic attitudes that have become popular from the entertainment media. Our children have learned to live for the moment and to consider nothing but their own immediate needs.
