8 teams make the MLB playoffs.
There used to be 8 teams. But, starting in the 2012 season, there are 10 teams.
Every year, 8 teams qualify for the MLB playoffs. If you win your division, you make the playoffs.
5 in each league.
In MLB, no. With the Tampa Bay Rays making the playoffs in the 2008 season, all 30 MLB teams have made the playoffs at least once.
there are two wild card teams in the playoffs, one from the National league and one from the American league.
the Boston red socks in 2004
Through the 2008 season, all 30 MLB teams have made the playoffs at least once. However the Nationals have not made it since their move to washington, they did make it back when they were the Expos though!
Eight. Four teams make the playoffs in each league. There are three divisions in each league and the three teams that wind up in first place in their division make the playoffs. The fourth team to make the playoffs is the team that did not win their division but has the best overall record of all the teams that did not win their division. That team is called the "wildcard" team.
There have been two teams with 1 loss in the MLB playoffs, 11-1 records, no team has had a perfect record in the MLB playoff era. (2005) White Sox (1999) Yankees
As of the start of the 2007 playoffs, no. The most 'sweeps' in the first round of the playoffs has been two and that has happened many times. But never have three teams swept in the first round of the MLB playoffs much less all four teams.

162 and then playoffs
Through the 2008 season, the last season both the Cubs and White Sox were in the MLB playoffs was 1906. The White Sox defeated the Cubs, 4 games to 2, in the World Series. This is the only season both Chicago teams made the MLB playoffs in the same season.

There are four teams from each league that make the playoffs. There are three divisions in each league and each division winner is guaranteed a place in the playoffs. The fourth team that makes the playoffs in each league is the team that has the best overall season record of those teams that did not win their division. This team is called the 'wildcard' team.
There are only 30 MLB teams in the MLB, but there are many places with a minor league park, but there are a few cities like Chicago and Los Angels that have two MLB teams. There are many cities without any teams.
As far as MLB is concerned, winning percentage doesn't really enter in to whether a team makes the playoffs or not. A team makes the playoffs by winning their division or being the team with the highest winning percentage of those other teams that did not win their division. There have been teams to make the playoffs with a record as 'poor' as 83-78, as did the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals who went on to win the World Series. There have been teams with records as good as 94-68 (1982 Baltimore Orioles) that did not make the playoffs. That goes to show that a team with a winning percentage of just over .500 can make the playoffs where a team with a winning percentage of .580 can miss the playoffs.
