Asian Elephants normally give birth to one calf at a time, but there can be twin calves. Elephants can give birth to about 7 calves in their lives.

typically an elephant cow has only one calf per pregnancy, but two are not uncommon, but i cant think of a single instance that more than two were born in one litter

As many as a human can. Two, three but it's rare to get two. So in general, one.

They only have one. Elephant baby delivery is very complicated, and more than one calf would make it nearly impossible for deliveries to be successful. I also doubt there is enough room in there for twins. Elephant calves weigh around two hundred pounds at birth. Having to carry around that much for twenty two months is bad enough.
Elephant litters usually include only one calf.

Elephants are the largest land animals now living. The elephant's gestation period is 22 months, the longest of any land animal. At birth it is common for an elephant calf to weigh 120 kilograms (260 lb). They typically live for 50 to 70 years, but the oldest recorded elephant lived for 82 years. The largest elephant ever recorded was shot in Angola in 1956. This male weighed about 12,000 kilograms (26,000 lb), with a shoulder height of 4.2 metres (14 ft), a metre (yard) taller than the average male African elephant. The smallest elephants, about the size of a calf or a large pig, were a prehistoric species that lived on the island of Crete during the Pleistocene epoch. Under the new two species classification, Loxodonta africana refers specifically to the Savanna Elephant, the largest of all elephants. It is the largest land animal, with males standing 3.2 metres (10 ft) to 4 metres (13 ft) at the shoulder and weighing 3,500 kilograms (7,700 lb) up to a reported 12,000 kilograms (26,000 lb).. The female is smaller, standing about 3 metres (9.8 ft) at the shoulder. Most often, Savanna Elephants are found in open grasslands, marshes, and lakeshores. They range over much of the savanna zone south of the Sahara.
