There are three time zones *between* Halifax, Nova Scotia and British Columbia: Eastern, Central and Mountain Time Zones.

Halifax is in Atlantic Time

>Eastern

>Central

>Mountain

British Columbia is in Pacific Time

There is a 5 hour time difference. Halifax is 5 hours ahead of British Columbia. If it's noon in British Columbia, it's 5pm in Halifax.

Vancouver is in the Pacific time zone. Halifax is in the Atlantic time zone. In between the two zones (from west to east) are 3 time zones: Mountain (e.g. Calgary), Central (e.g. Regina), and Eastern (e.g. Montreal).

There are 5 time zones. just look at a map and start from time zone 1-Halifax and count until the last time zone British Columbia. Do you understand? A more understandable way is that you start from the first time zone and count 15 degrees each time until you reach to the last time zone for the time. once the world rotates 15 degrees its an hour. it takes the world 1 hour to rotate 15 degrees.
