Depends on which class CDL you're getting, and what endorsements you're going for.

All CDL applicants must take the General Knowledge test, whether Class A, B, or C.

If the vehicle you'll be driving is equipped with air brakes, you need to take the written Air Brakes test, as well as perform your road test in a vehicle equipped with air brakes.

If you're going for a Class A CDL, you'll need to take Combination Vehicles, as well as perform your road test in a Class A vehicle.

Passenger, Double/Triple Trailer, Hazmat, and Tanker endorsements all require a written test. In addition, passenger endorsements require a road test to be conducted in the appropriate class of passenger vehicle (if you have a Class A CDL, but road test in a Class B or C vehicle, you'll receive a restriction limiting you to the class of passenger vehicle you road tested in). Hazmat endorsements require a TSA background check and fingerprinting.
