sorry i don't know how many towns were distoryed i know that 17 million people died and that on the first day about 72 houses were distoryed and 3 Buddhist temples, and i do know that the damage was about 2.5 trillion dollars. I HOPE THAT HELPS.=)
Some costs that have been associated with this decision are that people have had to be evacuated from their homes and relocated, entire towns have had to be flooded, and many temples and places that indicate cultural history have been destroyed.
