Average 1 ton of waste paper could saved 17 mature trees.
Recycling one ton of paper saves 17 trees
First, we have to define what a "tree" is. Let's say an average pine tree weighs a ton (2000 pounds). About half the tree ends up being usable, so that's 1000 pounds. Well a 500 page package of paper is about 5 pounds. So 1000 pounds (tree) divided by 5 pounds (ream of paper) is 200 reams of paper from 1 tree. The average business uses about 1 pound of paper per day per employee. That's a lot of trees.
It depends on how much paper one person recycles; the organizations do not give stats for one person. However, every ton (2000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees. That means each tree is worth about 117.647058824 pounds of paper (rounded up it is 117.65 pounds). According to the University of Southern Indiana, "The average household throws away 13,000 separate pieces of paper each year. Most is packaging and junk mail." "If every American recycled just one-tenth of their newspapers, we would save about 25,000,000 trees a year."
Trees are used to make paper. If you throw away paper there is no way to conserve it because it is being taken to a landfill to demolish it.That is really bad for the environment because we are loosing trees. If we loose all of our trees many of the fruits we eat like apples, lemons, and peaches will be gone. We also need trees and other plants to breath. If you recycle paper you will be sending it to a place where people take the old paper and turn it into new paper. If you do that then we would be able to keep all of the fruits we eat and be able to breath better. it is also good if you cut down trees and plant new trees in their spot.
paper affects the environment by destruction, the cut down millions of trees a days to make them into paper and just throw them out the next day, if people keep an cutting down so many trees and polluting by putting paper in the garbage and not the recycling bow there will be no trees left for our generation! So don't pollute! and put paper in the recycling! Actually paper is extremely important to the environment. If we reduce the amount of paper we use, landowners will have to sell their land to developers. The developers will build malls, apartments, golf courses on the land. The trees will be cut and not replaced. The forest products industry plants 1.7 million trees per day, almost 3 times what is harvested. There are 12 million more acres of forestland today than there was 20 years ago. 60% of the energy comes from self generated carbon neutral sources.
