i believe
to be a police ,i think you have to graduated frome high school,also get 4 years college or university,but that' all i know about how many year to become a police

In North America with a High School Diploma. a clean criminal record and good driving history you can be hired by a city police department or sheriffs office and take the Law Enforcement Training. (averages 1 yr). College or University is required by most Federal Law Enforcement agencies. Previous military training is often of benefit for either.

In TN you only have to have either a high school certificate or a GED and you can go to the police academy for 10 weeks.

You do not always have to have a college education to become a police officer. Most police departments due require that you have 60 credits which equivalent to an Associates Degree. Prior military experience is helpful but is not required as well. I am from Tennessee as well and most departments require you to have a High School diploma or a GED, and also have copy of your birth certificate along with having a good background check with no priors for the last seven years.
