So, it was a long road for man to finally arrive at the moon.

The final planning took about 8 years.

And, then 4 days travel time there.

1 day on the moon.

3 days to get back.

One could likely reduce the travel time a considerable amount for an unmanned one-way trip.

It would likely take less planning to do a similar launch today due to incorporating past knowledge, but it would still take a few years to get everything ready.
