During the 20th Century (1901 to 2000) there 229 solar and 230 lunar eclipses.

There are typically between 2 and 4 solar eclipses (of all types) in a year.

In fact, the average is close to 2.4 per year.

There must be at least 2 each year.

Rarely, we can get 5 in one year.

There is a total eclipse about 2 times in every 3 years. Of course total eclipses can only be seen from a small area of the Earth.

So, at any particular place they are quite rare.
