In the United States, most vet school applicants have between six and ten years of experience working with animals and around veterinarians when they apply to vet school. Vet school is another four years of intense training after this.

You first must go to a four year college and get a bachelor's degree, and then complete four years of a veterinary college. It is possible that you could get an associates degree and then apply to a vet school, but it is less likely that they will take you on.
