In the novella "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson, Mr. Hyde dies by suicide. Dr. Jekyll takes his own life to rid the world of Mr. Hyde and prevent him from causing any further harm.
From poison, he kills himself.

Dr. Lanyon's death was caused by shock after witnessing Mr. Hyde transform into Dr. Jekyll in front of him. The realization that Jekyll and Hyde were the same person was too much for Lanyon to handle, leading to his fatal decline.

Jeckyll starts turning into Hyde more and more frequently and he sequesters himself inside his lab. As his potion to turn back into Jeckyll begins to run out (and he will be Hyde forever when the potion runs out) he writes a letter wondering if Hyde will kill himself or wait for the cops who will kill him anyway. -Earlier in the book, we indeed see Hyde dead by suicide.
In "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," the sawbones refer to the medical doctors or surgeons who work on Mr. Hyde after he is involved in an accident or altercation. They are mentioned when Mr. Hyde is injured and treated for his wounds.
Mr. Hyde shrank back in horror when he looked at the transformed face of Mr. Hyde in the mirror. This caused Mr. Hyde to recoil with a hissing intake of breath.
