The cost of a bridle can vary. I have a nice one that I bought for $35. They range in price - some can be hundreds of dollars depending on the designer and leather quality. It depends on what you want to spend.

I prefer to get a good quality one, which might cost more because it has better leather and will last forever. It depends on what you are using it for, too. If trail riding is your thing than you won't need an expensive one, But if you do showing and or pony club you might as well spend the money.

Prices can vary greatly depending on your area and style of riding. The lower end bridles can cost around $50 and the higher end bridles can be several thousand dollars. Most do not include a bit and almost as many don't include matching reins.

Double bridles, usually used in dressage can be hundreds of dollars and show bridles, especially western style bridles, are in the $1000 and above group due to the silver on the tack. But for everyday riding and hacking a good 'working' bridle is a good choice. The leather is not as fine but for everyday use they will last longer.

Which type of bridle does not have a bit?

The bridle that does not have a bit in it is called the hackamore. It looks just like a normal bridle, except there is nothing that goes into the horse's mouth. It is used to have a quicker responce from your horse (make them stop faster), because it cuts off the air supply in their nose when you pull on it. If you ride a horse in the hackamore, try to ride softly, and don't yank on the reins as much as you might if you were in a normal bit.

How much does the average bridle cost?

A bridles price can vary. The lowest you will get a good leather bridle for is around $60 online. Bridles can get very expensive. The bridles price may also change depending on wheter it is Nylon or Leather. Typically a bridle will range from 70- 150 dollars. You may also get low prices from Ebay... but i do not suggest buying a used bridle. (Even if the item says brand new people can stretch the truth.) I also suggest leather bridle because they are easier to punch holes in. Nylon is alot more complicated.
