A French "penny" coin would actually be a €0.01 coin issued by France, because France has used the euro since 2002.

Exchange rates change all the time but the euro has been in the range CD$1.25 to CD$1.40, so your coin is worth slightly more than 1 cent.

Recent ones are worth face value in either currency. The two currencies are almost at par.
