For the Polar Bear, the largest ever recorded, was shot and killed in Kotzebue Sound Alaska in 1960. It weighed in at 2,210 pounds, and was 11 feet and 11 inches tall. The Brown Bear, largest was a subspecies Known as the Kodiak Bear, this one was weighed in at more than 2,500 pounds and was about 14 feet tall. ∙ 15y agoMuch debate has ranged over which species was larger. The polar bear is somewhat longer, and may stand a bit taller, but the brown bear is usually a bit heavier than the polar bear.
