The Titanic's Anchor Weighed 16tonn
24 ounces
It took 20 horses to pull titanics anchor and at its time was the bigest anchor ever forged and for some time after that. but I do not know how large it was.
1 anchor
About a ton.
The average modern day anchor on medium sized ships is about 60 tons. The average anchor on a large ship is about 100 tons.
No more so than "Why is a mouse when it spins." Weigh anchor is a command and a complete sentence in itself. If you were to ask: "Who would weigh anchor the most often?", or "Weigh anchor often.", then you would have a complete sentence without nonsense.
Because the titanics boilers did not measure how much steam was boiling if there was to much steam it would go out the funnels that were 63 feet high.
weigh down the anchor
Its' anchor, silly!
It's a phrase that's often misunderstood. It means to pull up a ship's anchor. It's the opposite of "to drop anchor".
