Should ranchers and farmers be charged for runoff?

No. Why? Because it's just as ridiculous a question as asking whether farmers and ranchers should be taxed for the dust they make when they are doing agricultural activities, or fined for their cows producing too much gas. Putting more pressure on farmers and ranchers to spend more money is a recipe for disaster, because they aren't getting much money from farming and ranching in the first place. A farmer or rancher cannot stop runoff from happening because it will always happen according to the shape of the land. It's like asking them to spend more money to flatten the landscape so that they don't have runoff, which is completely ludicrous. Most farmers and ranchers are being careful about lessening runoff into bodies of water, and doing as much as they can to prevent such a thing. But it will only work if Mother Nature is willing to co-operate, which, in 9 times out of 10 she usually has other ideas. If you want to charge farmers and ranchers for run-off, fine. But remember, that's a really good way of making them go out of business and thus create less food for a growing population.

Why ranchers get angry about barbed wire?

This is an "OLD West" Question. Ranchers in the old west used the open range to feed their cattle. They would graze on open land year round. In the summer they would graze in the high country where it was cooler and in the winter they came down to the low country to graze. When farmers arrived in the territories they fenced off their land with Barbed Wire to keep the cattle out. This cut up the open land that the ranchers had always used. Farmers also brought Sheep. Sheep will eat grass down to the roots. Where cattle will not. This also killed off much of the grass land that the cattle needed. Farmers used Barbed wire to keep the cattle out. Cattle, being stupid, would often get caught in the wire, injuring themselves and often dieing from their wounds. Ranchers hated the new farmers and this led to Wars between ranchers and farmers in the Old West.

How much do you make training horses for local ranchers?

It depends on what area of the U.S you are in. I am in Montana and most trainers get anywhere from 20 to 25 dollars per ride or session they work with the horse. Most trainers take the horse for 30 days. It ends up being between 600 to upwards of 800 per month for the most experienced horse trainers. But for local ranchers, I would be happy getting 600 a month.

How much do cattle ranchers make?

What is the role of agriculture in national economy?

Not as much as farmers and ranchers might like. Agriculture represents less than 4% of the US national gross domestic product. As such, agricultural products are frequently "hung out to dry" in international trade negotiations. Farmers and ranchers represent less than 1% of the total US population, making them politically "expendable".
