Unfortunately gold plated jewelry does not have any real value for scrap gold buyers. It contains an extremely small amount of gold, too small for scrap buyers to bother with.

BUT, your jewelry might have value to costume jewelry buyers. Go to sites such as Etsy.com, Ruby Lane and ebay and search "gold plated jewelry" and find jewelry similar to yours. If your jewelry has been "signed" by the maker, meaning there is some kind of mark inside that indicates who made it, it has more value.

The value of gold plated jewelry can range from a few dollars to thousands of dollars, so it's worth doing a little research on vintage selling websites to find out.

On Antiques Roadshow a few years ago, a man had a hat decorated with around two dozen costume brooches and it was appraised at several thousand dollars.

It really depends on the going price, and how much gold is in them, how big they are, as well as the condition. Take them to a local Jeweler to get them appraised for make and value.

Which cost more gold filled jewelry or gold plated jewelry?

first question ...do you folks have a preference for gold filled or vermeil? I have heard that vermeil doesn't hold up any better than plating ...? ...also, I have some gold plated pewter that wears off so quickly, I wouldn't dare sell anything made of it ...can I treat it with something to prolong the gold plating? I wore a necklace for a total of maybe 15 hours and the plating wore off enough to make the beads grey & dull ...how can I sell that? I'm so disappointed in gold plated pewter but I'm also afraid plated brass would tarnish so quickly .

Is this ring worth anything?

It depends on the volume of the gold that is plated on the jewelry, but when an item is electro plated, the plating material is usually very thin - less than 0.01mm - so there is hardly any volume of gold. So even though gold is expensive, a gold-plated item is worth just a few pence (cents) more than the item would be if it did not have the gold. This is ok if you want to buy inexpensive jewelry, where the main thing is whether it looks good, but you won't be able to sell it for any money.

What is the value of 1968-D gold half dollar?

Gold plated, but not gold. A private company took an ordinary 1968 half dollar and plated it for use in jewelry or as a so-called "collectible". The underlying coin is made of 40% silver so you could sell it for $2.50 or so, but that's about all. No circulating coins have been made of gold since 1933.
