Restaurant servers make anywhere from $1000-4500 a month depending on the type of restaurant (Bar-type, fancy restaurant, chain restaurants) They typically earn about $90-250 per night in tips plus an additional $3-11 an hour in wages. So depending on how much you are able/willing to work, you could be making plenty of money.

Previous answer was answering a question with a question. There is, however, no simple answer here. It depends on a variety of factors including geographical location and the type of restaurant. Take McDonald's, for example. Technically a restaurant, but their cooks make minimum wage - as opposed to a fine dining restaurant at a resort where the cooks might make upwards of $15-16 per hour. Servers make a minimum wage of between $2 and $5 per hour, depending on the state. They make, at the very least, minimum wage, and usually average $15 to $25 per hour, or more, when you factor in their tips. Assistant managers and General managers generally make above $50,000 per year at an average sit-down restaurant. Location, type of restaurant, experience, and a number of other things will come into play, so do your homework before that interview!

It really does depend on where the restaurant is, how big it is, how many customers it has, what the profit margin on its food is, and what its fixed and variable costs are. If you've got a few spare millions, put a new restaurant in a place with high demand but little or no supply. You should make a fortune!
