Yes, there is. You can play high school for your high school (most schools have teams). Or you can find a competition team within your area that you can play with. To find these teams do a search for "softball teams" then your area on any search engine.
Well my school has a softball team. But i guess it mainly depends on where you live and how popular the sport is. In California softball is pretty popular and most high schools out here have teams.

They certainly can; it is not illegal. Be aware that, by nature, there will be a drastic size of female population paired against the minuscule percentage of males. Having said that... once you are out of high-school, you may find more teams looking for a certain gender (or both, in some cases)-- it will depend on the severity and official'ity of the particular group.
Many schools don't. I wish mine did. Softball is a wonderful sport that teaches teamwork,cooperation, hand eye coordination, athletic skills, and much more. It can bring a lot of prestige to a school. More schools should have them.
