Honestly, it all depends.

Grooming Salon Managers, at least at PetSmart, make 60% of every dog they groom. But, seeing as a normal groomer gets 50% this isn't that much of a difference.

There are also bonuses to take into account though. If the salon manager sells more than the company "planned" for, they get a bonus. The higher they exceed this plan, the more of a bonus they make.

Now PetSmart has a weird way of paying their groomers. You get an hourly pay for the hours you worked. To my understanding this is a law they have to follow. Then, they subtract your hourly pay from your commissions, and whatever that number is they consider your commission.

Example:

If you make 10 bucks an hour as a salon manager and work 40 hours in a week. Your hourly pay will be 400$. Lets say your commissions for the week ended up being 720$. Your paycheck would look like...

Hourly Wage ---------- 400.00

Commission ----------- 320.00

This guarantees you a base pay, even during the slow seasons so it's not all bad.

PLUS: Full time groomers get benefits. Most mom and pop shop salons don't offer this and you have to get it yourself, so you save yourself some money too.
