Not enough for the talent that she has. A theater company I do work for hired an extra seamstress for 25.00 per hour, but that was a special deal. It is not the norm. There still may be factories where they do 'piecework' and garment construction, but probably all this work is done overseas. My aunt was a seamstress by trade, and did the sample making. This was seasonal work and the women collected unemployment out of season. I worked a summer in the factory doing odd jobs, including putting on buttons by machine, and 'cleaning' threads left by the seamstresses. A lot of dressmakers make their living nowadays by doing alterations. Things need to be hemmed, and specialy items like bridal gowns need to be taken in or let out.
