It will cost as much as a normal pony and probably as much as a horse dependent on where you live and if you decide to keep it on a grass livery with no stable but you would still have to be able to afford the livery fees, vets bills, farrier and equine dentist just like any other horse/pony. In the UK a grass livery can be around £10 upwards a week where i am but i will range and vets fees are very expensive especially of the pony falls ill. dentist and farrier wouldn't be very expensive though.
When asking these questions, you've always got to expect, 'It depends.' Which it does. I know it costs a lot. Buying it is one thing, owning it is another. Boarding, vet bills, feed- and that's only a few of the thing you'd have to pay for.
To purchase a Fell pony expect to pay $3,000 or more (us dollars or roughly 1,786.45 British pounds) for an 'average' Fell. Upkeep on a pony is typically a bit less than a full sized horse but you should budget no less then $4,000 a year (again US dollars or 2,381.93 in British pounds.)
Falabellas are a small breed generally associated with Miniature horses. A 250 pound miniature horse/Falabella can be maintained on 5 or 6 pounds of hay per day making the cost of feed very low.
An animal of this size requires much less space than a regular pony or horse and, depending on your location, board may be very low. Pasture board at a facility that handles miniature horses could be both reasonable and safe. Mixed pasture with larger horses and ponies can prove quite dangerous to a small horse and should be avoided.
Generally, these smaller breeds of horses have issues that make them higher maintenance than
their larger counterparts.
Hooves on these small horses grow at the same rate as a full sized horse which means that the length relative to hoof size increases much more rapidly requiring more frequent and consistent trimming. Many of the smallest horses have angular limb deformities that made hoof care even more critical.
Because horses of this size are essentially dwarves many (but not all) individuals will also need consistent dental work due to malocclusion of their teeth.
There are several forms of dwarfism in small horses however an individual with short legs relative
to their body, broad foreheads with short muzzles (sometimes in conjunction with a bulldog mouth)
can have considerable issues with internal organs as well as joints.
As with any animal the least part of the cost is often the purchase price but, in the case of these
small horses/ponies, an inexpensive Falabella may have inherent problems that make the cost of maintaining it not only expensive but heart breaking as well.
It costs about $3,000-$5,000!
