I had a partial hysterectomy a year ago. Without insurance it would have cost $14,000 dollars and that was only an overnight stay in the hospital. I was lucky, my insurance paid all but $1200 of it.

I've recently seen estimates from $7,000 - $15,000. To save costs without necessarily reducing quality, over 500,000 US residents traveled overseas for medical care in 2007 - and the trend is rising. Cost savings can be as high as 90%. One reason is because hospitals in the US often cost $500 or more per square foot to build, but in many foreign countries they can be built for less than $100 a square foot to state of the art specifications. Take care when choosing a facilitator, medical team and hospital just as you would for hospitals and medical teams here. Hospitals should be JCI accredited, and as a double-check, visit the US Department of State website for updates on any countries to avoid and other precautions.

This will vary on the medical facility you use and cost of drugs etc. An average figure is about $9000 as opposed to a normal laproscopic hysterectomy at $6500.

There are currently concerns regarding Robotic surgery which you shoud research to make an informed decision.

It all depends on location and if your insurance covers this or not. I had this done and paid $5500.

What is the difference between a total and partial hysterectomy?

Total hysterectomy normally refer to complete removal of the uterus and sometimes include the ovaries (oophorectomy). Partial hysterectomy normally leave the cervix behind. The cervix in the part of the uterus visible from the vagina and the opening of the uterus to the outside.

How long can an ovary last after a partial hysterectomy?

Yes you will if you still have your ovaries.

What if a ovary taken out is this considered a partial hysterectomy?

The removal of an ovary via surgery is called an oopherectomy, an hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus.

What is removed during a partial hysterectomy?

Hysterectomy = uterus. Total hysterectomy = uterus and cervix. Salpingo = fallopian tube. oopherectomy = ovary. Therefore just a hysterectomy would be removal of uterus alone and a Total hysterectomy with salpingo oopherectomy (bilateral) is everything.
