I make $35 an hour in a small town in Calfornia, I take in about 2-10 patients a day. I have a little over a year experience and started out at $32 an hour. I hear others making as stinking low as $25 p/hour and even up to $55 an hour. I am work in a small resort town in which most resort towns like to pay scrap because eventhough they charge their patients a lot more then anywhere else, the "don't have enough patients." Not true. Even then they make tons so you negotiate up the butt. Now some places like to pay per patient...$50 minimum per patient (Ob/Gyn, or Abdomen) without<1 yr experience and without your ARDMS and up to $100 per patient for an echocardiogram or vascular exam with ARDMS. Hope that info helped. By the way...it's all about how you sell yourself, your worth even if you are just out of college, don't sell yourself short. This position can be very stressing and it's the hardest diagnostic imaging modality to do. You are pretty much doing the Radiologist's job. They usually agree with me about 100% of the time. Easy money for them. They don't have much to do, the hard stuff is already done by us Sonographers. So always remember your worth. How much does a sonographer technician?

A Sonographer is a "technologist" and not a "technician". A sonographer must be able to read films/images just as a Radiologist does. A Sonographer always has to "pre-read" the films before the M.D's ever see them. This is the reason a Board Certified Sonographer's learning curve and pay is so much higher than any of the other radiography professions.
